Squealer from the brewery. Golden/amber, (quite light for an IPA) with a well retained frothy white head and heavy lacing. Subdued aromas of grapefruit, melon, grass and pepper, pulled together with almond like malts. Moderate grassy bitterness on the front palate leads into a long, dry bitter mid palate and finish. The rye brings a delicious spiciness, while further nutty malts adds rounded complexity and balance. A fantastic beer and just my type of IPA, which doesn’t blow your head off with hugely bitter, oily hops. I’ll have to go back and get a growler next time, the squealer didn’t last long.
