I have two vices in life: Beer and Coffee. Today i enjoyed a Black lager from Blackman’s Brewery. Dark and bold from the can, with aromas quite fruitful from the pour.
On first sip, it’s an atypical lager, for sure. Fresh citrus mixes pleasantly with bitter coffee and the flavours are distinct, not muddled.
The head retention was somewhat lacking, maybe I poured the beer too gently as i watched the black liquid come out. From experience, most black beers like to gush on the pour if you are not most careful. A solid drop from a cool little brewery who run their own funky beer hall in a back alley of the centre of Geelong, Victoria.
