Frenchies ‘Comet Pale’ (Pale Ale) – Rosebery, NSW

I first came across Frenchies a couple of years ago when two mates were selling their small selection of beers at a local market in southern Sydney. Now they run a brewery/brasserie in inner west Sydney, focused on wonderful seasonal French cooking. I’m still looking forward to getting there but regularly drool over their menu. Their version of a pale ale uses the old American hop – Comet. It’s earth and spice attributes combine well with food. I jumped across the French border and cooked up some mid week Spanish styled tapas for the family and the beer washed it all down perfectly.

Can. Deep gold/bronze colour. Light, floral hop aroma and sweetish, biscuity malts. The biscuit malts are the major flavour profile, well supported by a moderate hop bitterness of grass, earth and citrus flowers. Easy drinking and a good food beer.
