HOPE Brewhouse ‘Watermelon Gose’

With Sydney experiencing one of the hottest Autumn’s on record (what climate change?) it pays to have a few gose’s left in the fridge to take off the edge on a warm afternoon (admittedly last week, it’s cooled down a bit now). The HOPE Brewhouse Watermelon Gose is a touch sweeter than the Nomad version I reviewed a couple of weeks ago, but a really enjoyable beer. Cool can too!!

Can. Cloudy straw with a well retained white head that laces strongly. Aromas of wheat with backnotes of watermelon rind. Initial watermelon sweetness, which moves into wheat sourness, salty savouriness, watermelon rind and then a lactose sweetness to finish. Despite its apparent sweetness, it begs another can to be opened, which for me is the whole purpose of a gose.
