Young Henrys ‘Motorcycle Oil’ (American Porter) – Newtown, NSW

Young Henrys don’t make many black beers but the ones I’ve had are very good. ‘Mother Shucka’, an oyster stout I had a couple of years ago on handpump @royalalbert was up there with the best. ‘Motorcycle Oil’, a hoppy porter might not be on quite the same level, but it’s a nice beer. Hint, hint Young Henrys. More black beer please!

Can. Pours a deep black with a small cappuccino head. Inviting aromas of dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malts, a touch of spice and citrusy hops. A little lighter on the palate then the aroma suggests, with muted dark chocolate, roasted malts, freshening citrus hops and a long dry finish. A good start to the cooler beer weather.
