My favourite beer style, a black IPA, the slapshot by Wayward Brewing in Sydney’s inner west. So hard to find a decent black IPA and a part of me would like think that whinging to tully at GABS got me across the line with the slapshot!
Pours a dark black with a thick caramel coloured head. Dark roasty coffee up front with a strong Canadian malt at the back. Smooth mouthfeel as always with Wayward brews. Nice spruce of citrus with a delightful piney nose. Love it. Can’t fault it. Sits perfectly at 6.5%. I wonder if anyone has considered lupulin in a black IPA, would create that awesome velvet feeling on the tongue. Almost faultless IPA, well done Wayward.
