Green Beacon Brewing Co Barbary Coast Black IPA from the Brissie brewers. Another black IPA as we head slowly out of winter and into NEIPAs and IPAs. As I keep saying, black IPAs are my favourite style of beer. Dark stout meets hoppy resinous piney double IPAs, a perfect match! Yet to have a bad beer from Green Beacon and this is no exception.
Pours a deep dark black with a firm caramel coloured head. Strong coffee on the nose up front with a reserved malt middle plus, this is what really makes this black IPA stand out, is the aggressive use of hops. It has a really delightful hop bitterness at the end of it that added some spice, that’s it actually, it’s a slightly spicey (not hot spicey) black IPA, truly magnificent! Well done, will definitely buy again.
