I visited @coastalbrewingco a couple of months ago during a north coast holiday, and have been pleased to see their distribution seems to be increasing further afield. I tucked away a few cans of my favourite beer for winter, the Black Head Milk Stout (named after the beautiful beach at Halliday’s Point). I enjoyed it cold on a warm Easter evening with a dozen oysters as much as I did on a cold July night at cellar temperature. Keep an eye out for this beer, it’s a good one.
Can. Deep black with small off white heard that retains well. Aromas of milk chocolate, caramel and hints of cold brew coffee and roasted malt. Great balance between the sweetness of milk and toasty backnotes. Smooth mouthfeel (slightly better on tap), with sweet milk chocolate and balancing bitterness of heavily roasted malts into a mid level mouthfeel, making it very drinkable.

3.8/5. Trent
