I love Nomad Brewing Co and I love sour beers, so this was always going to be a hit. They used their tidy little session golden ale, Cruisin’ Ale as a base, added 300kg of Shiraz grapes and aged it to allow some funky wild yeasts to have their way with the beer and make “The Wild Mongrel”. The end result? Delicious!

Bottle from the Robin Hood Hotel. Cloudy gold with an ever so slight pink hue and small white head. Funky fruit aromas, along with wood, apple cider vinegar, honey and lime juice. Quite a sour front palate full of lime juice and apple cider vinegar. Oak and honey creep into the middle, with the tannins from the grapes gripping towards the end. Lots of cool funk. A proper sour beer.
