Yulli's Brews

Made using the left over pressed Pinot Grigio grapes from Gilbert Family Wines in Mudgee, this was my favourite beer at GABS 2017. When I saw it on tap last week at Keg & Brew, one of Sydney’s best craft beer pubs, I couldn’t wait to have another taste of this limited edition brew. The bar girl warned me when I ordered it, “D0 you know this beer is sour?” I did and it didn’t disappoint. It’s sour!!

Pours a pale straw, with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is full of vinous pear and citrus notes, along with barrel notes and apple cider vinegar. The citrus crispness of the Pinot Grigio follows through to the flavour profile, with barrel and apple cider vinegar back notes and a deliciously sour sourness! Perhaps not as complex as the recently reviewed Nomad ‘The Mongrel’, which had more barrel fermentation and grungier notes with the Shiraz grapes, but this is a clean, refreshingly crisp sour beer that I could drink day after day after day.

I can officially confirm it’s my favourite beer at the moment. I hope you’ve canned this one Yulli’s, so I can enjoy a few more.
