I really like brown ales, and when it is an American version of the style, the big hop element turns it into quite a complex little beer, unlike it’s English cousin which can have a hollow middle. Perfect for a cool night in front of the Tour de France.

Bottle. Pours a murky brown (it is a brown ale!) with a small, cream head. Inviting aromas of chocolate, roasted nuts, marzipan, cherries and a hint of citrusy hops. Flavour wise, citrus hops lead the way, leading into nuts, dark chocolate, sweet caramel and roasted malts. It’s reasonably bitter, adding complexity with the roasted malts. It’s slightly over-carbonated, which detracts slightly (would be good on hand-pump). Very enjoyable nonetheless. Thanks for this one Damo!
