On my recent, much enjoyed excursion to Sauce Brewing in Sydney’s inner west suburb of Marrickville I was disappointed their Saucy Saison wasn’t on top. The disappointment didn’t last too long after I tried just about everything else and got to buy a few cans to take away. A richer mouthfeel than a lot of Saison’s, it was still delicious and perfect for a warm summer evening, even if I hadn’t been ploughing my Belgian field. Love the artwork on the can too.
Can. Slightly hazy gold colour with a small white head that quickly dissipates in the glass. Aromas of banana, peach and bubblegum esters, followed by peppery spice and lemon pith. Citrus forward hops develop into richer, familiar Belgian ester flavours of banana and bubblegum, while a clove and pepper spiciness lighten up the finish. Quite a rich mouthfeel for a Saison, but the high carbonation does its job in ensuring its summer evening quaffability.
