New England Brewing Co located in Uralla NSW have created The Hive

Fond of my wheat beers, I saw this on the “new” shelf at @plonk_cbr and had to give it a go. The Hive is marketed as a European-style wheat ale that’s all about the honey, they use Stringy Bark  from a local apiarist.

This beer is a gorgeous deep orange, but the head was sadly small and dissipated too quickly. The fragrance has a very appealing hint of honey and blossom. The honey scent sets you up to expect a sweet taste, but the beer is pleasantly smooth and dry. Bready malt flavours dominate up front, but the aftertaste is refreshingly citrusy.

In summary, this is an easy drinking beer, and very sessionable.

ABV 4.5% in a generous 500ml can.
