Balter ‘Strong Pale Ale’ (American Pale Ale) – Currumbin, Queensland
Balter are certainly the brewer everyone is talking about, with their relaxed, easy drinking beers. I didn’t get my hands on the IIPA unfortunately, which was apparently amazing. Hope they do it again. In any case, the Strong Pale Ale is the latest addition to their full time lineup. And it’s their best by a long way. A good hop whack and easy drinkability, I can see this being a regular ‘buy by the case’ beer in my fridge.
Can. Pours golden/amber with an orange tinge and frothy, well maintained white head. Big tropical fruit (mango, pineapple, passionfruit) and melon aromas, with just a touch of underlying grapefruit. Quite a sweet caramel malt backing, with tropical fruit and bitter grapefruit layered over the top. Relatively simplistic, but a really enjoyable beer.
