Batch Brewing “In A Pickle Sour Ale” with cucumbers and Sorachi Ace hops. From the guys down at Batch, traditionally the last stop on the inner west brewpub crawl where traditionally we finish with pash the magic dragon, jeez what a great sour! The beer…
Pours a golden lemonade yellow with a decent white frothy head for a sour. Strong lacing and a strong cucumber smell on the nose. Sour middle with a strong taste of cucumbers and dill which was a bit disarming at first but worked really well with the cucumbers and the over all pickled cucumber flavour. I felt like I was back at Katz Deli in New York eating pickles which for my palate was awesome. Boy this beer could be polarizing… In my humble opinion it’s pure genius, this is the Heston Blumenthal of craft beer, it looks like an Aussie pale ale but drinks like a pickle and dill sour! Good ABV of 4.3% rounds it out perfectly. This is pure genius, well done Batch!
